THE RISE OF MULTIPLE FIRE FEATURES

HOMEOWNERS ARE LIGHTING UP THEIR BACKYARDS WITH MULTIPLE FIRE FEATURES

Over the last year, we have seen an interesting twist in backyard design: MULTIPLE FIRE FEATURES. Clients are no longer just adding a simple fire pit. They are adding multiple fire features to their backyard including fireplaces, fire bowls, and fire tables. We recently finished a large project in Farmington that includes a firepit, fire table, and fire bowls on either side of the pool. Our designers worked with the homeowners to come up with something that allowed them to include all of these fire features while keeping a natural flow to the space. Not only are there different options when considering fire, but there are also ways to include multiple elements and textures making the project unique to you and your lifestyle! If you are thinking about this type of design for your own backyard space, see below for some ideas.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT MATERIAL FOR YOUR SPACE

When considering a fire feature for your backyard, think about the type of material or shape you prefer. There is a huge selection from which to choose. Some examples include Blue Slate, Pavers, Stone, Brick, and Granite, but the list goes on and on. Start looking through the EAQ (formerly E.A. Quinn) fire feature gallery to see how the materials look in different spaces. Think about how much you will use the space and the functionality. Different materials fit different lifestyles. You will also want to make sure the materials blend well together. EAQ (formerly E.A. Quinn) recently updated the outdoor display at headquarters on Commerce Street. When you are ready, call and schedule a tour to see the materials in person.

MAKING SURE THE DESIGN FLOWS FROM ONE FIRE FEATURE TO THE NEXT

Since you will be investing a significant amount of money into revamping your outdoor space, make sure it feels right to you. EAQ (formerly E.A. Quinn) designers know what works. If you are looking to add multiple fire features, they will create a layout that allows for an easy transition from one to the next. A good example is shown in the photo below. This project included multiple fire features: a fire pit, fire table, and fire bowls. The layout makes perfect sense and gives the homeowners different areas to sit with friends and family while enjoying their fire features.

WHICH FIRE FEATURES WILL YOU CHOOSE?

As people spend more time at home, they are going big when it comes to outdoor space. They are no longer asking for just a patio or firepit, but an entire space to entertain. This has led to a rise in requests for multiple fire features. But how do you know what you want and what will work?

FIREPIT: A firepit is the perfect choice for a more casual hangout with friends and family. The circle or square designs create an ideal scenario for gathering around and having some good laughs while making lifelong memories.

FIREPLACE:  A fireplace has a more traditional feel. It’s a good option if you are looking to relax fireside with your spouse or bond with your friends and is a great way to create an outdoor living room.

FIRE TABLE: Fire tables are growing in popularity as more people build outdoor kitchens for entertaining. Why not add fire as the centerpiece while enjoying a delicious meal with those you love?

FIRE BOWL:  A fire bowl is a dramatic addition to any large scale design and provides a fun conversation piece. It conjures up a tribal feel while providing more light for areas where the other fire features might not work.

Commercial property irrigation services manage how water reaches turf, trees, shrubs, and planting beds across business and institutional landscapes. Proper coverage supports plant health, creates a more consistent appearance, controls unnecessary water use, and protects the property’s long-term landscape investment. Property managers, facility teams, commercial owners, schools, municipalities and multi-site operators depend on irrigation systems to perform under changing weather and property conditions. A system must do more than turn on at a scheduled time. It must deliver the right amount of water to each part of the landscape without creating dry areas, flooding, runoff, or repeated overspray.

Commercial property management is a balancing act between curb appeal, safety, and long-term value. Buildings usually get the most attention, but the landscape, especially the trees and shrubs, function as the property's living infrastructure. A well-maintained tree canopy or shrub line does more than look good. It protects the investment, reduces liability, and shapes the first impression tenants, customers, and visitors get before they ever step through the door.

Walk a campus or commercial property after a wet spring week and the turf usually tells the story fast. Bare areas near entrances, muddy tracks across open lawns, weed pressure along drives, and thin grass in high-traffic zones all point to bigger maintenance issues. Commercial turf services cover far more than mowing. A strong program protects appearance, supports grass health, improves safety, and helps turf recover from traffic, heat, storms, and winter stress. At EAQ Landscaping, we build turf programs around the full picture, not just the cut. This guide explains what commercial turf services should include, how service needs change by property type, and what to look for in a provider that can deliver reliable results season after season.

Landscape compliance defines how commercial sites are planned and built under local and regional rules. It sets limits on grading, drainage, hardscape, structures, planting, and safety. Local oversight often involves multiple agencies, each reviewing a different part of the site and final plans. When these reviews are handled out of order, projects can slow, costs can rise, and approvals can stall. Proper landscape compliance management keeps plans aligned, reviews moving, and work cleared to proceed without interruption.

Computer based design turns site concepts into exact build plans before work starts. Every path, slope, pipe, and plant location is defined in one shared file, giving crews, inspectors, owners, plus towns the same view. On large commercial properties, this clarity cuts errors, limits rework, and keeps costs steady by aligning planning, field execution, and approvals from day one. At EAQ (formerly E.A. Quinn), designs become live job files. Crews load drawings on tablets, follow grades and layouts, and record any changes on site. Project leads send the same file to towns and owners, so approvals, installs, plus updates stay in sync.

For property managers and business owners, the grounds are now a strategic asset impacting tenant retention, brand perception, and operational efficiency. Hiring separate contractors for mowing, irrigation, and enhancements no longer meets current demands. This outdated model creates communication gaps, conflicting priorities, and missed opportunities. The solution lies in replacing transactional services with a comprehensive partnership model. This piece explores how working with an integrated landscaping partner aligns outdoor management with business objectives and moves beyond basic upkeep to create measurable value.
